A few fags everyday make sure the doctor is always on his way…to you. If you are a high BP patient then you have to kick this habit lest the situation escalates to cardiac failure! A good alternative to smoking is taking long walks; research has shown that the same chemical reactions take place in the body on smoking and walking, minus the side effects of tobacco.
Keep a tab on the flab: A majority of the population with high Blood Pressure is prone to obesity. It might not always be a result of excessive or over eating. Causes vary from over-sleeping, laziness, lack of exercise to too much of medicines, less but fatty food and so on. A couple of thing you can do to control your weight are:
- Exercise regularly: If you are too lazy to go on a walk or gym, make sure you get up multiple times to do daily chores, throw away the remote, give the elevators a miss and make stairs your new best friends.
- Rehash your diet: This does not necessarily mean that you have to eat less. Eat to your heart’s content but eat healthy. Stick to negative calorie foods and keep filling your stomach with small meals taken at frequent intervals.
- Wine and dine are definitely good for a healthy social life…a healthy life…errr not so much! Reduce the consumption of alcoholic as well as caffeinated beverages. If you drink these by the gallons then do not give up on them in one go, gradually reduce the intake and over a period of time you’ll start seeing the results in your health check-ups.
Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy – not so sure about- wealthy and wise. A well rested body and brain have well rounded health benefits.
A lifestyle tailored to counter High Blood Pressure should definitely tip the scales in your favor when it comes to controlling your BP.
